AI does not have office hours
The most obvious advantage of an AI tarot reader is availability. You can ask a question at five in the morning, without waiting for an appointment, and receive a written interpretation when it suits you. This is helpful when learning tarot, exploring one straightforward question, or checking a spread you have already done yourself.
Convenience and a personal reading are not the same experience, however. It helps to understand the difference.
For me, the biggest difference is how the work is done
In my personal practice, a physical deck and interaction with the client have their own significance. I hold the cards and regard my connection with the person, including what I describe as the energetic aspect of the process, as part of my method. This is my personal approach, not a claim about a scientifically established mechanism.
An AI reader has no physical deck in its hands, does not observe the person, and cannot work with what I call their energy in the same way I do. It receives a question, randomly selected cards, and the available written context, then produces an interpretation.
Where AI is particularly useful
AI can be an excellent tool for practising independently, comparing interpretations, learning how a spread is structured, and exploring tarot quickly. If you have your own deck, you can use it as a second perspective on the cards you have drawn.
If you value a personal conversation, a detailed backstory, vocal nuance, follow-up questions, and the experience of an individual practitioner, a human consultation is a different kind of interaction.
You do not have to choose one forever
There is no need to declare AI a complete replacement for a person or to dismiss every automated interpretation as meaningless. These are different ways of engaging with tarot symbolism. Your choice depends on whether you want a quick additional perspective or a personal session.
In either case, I recommend maintaining a critical perspective. Neither software nor a human reader can guarantee the future with 100% accuracy, and neither should make major life decisions for you.
